As the opportunities to learn about ceramics in Universities decrease it is so encouraging to find an independently run School of Ceramics that is so dedicated to teaching the diversity of ceramics to such a high level.

Katrina is not only an established maker in her own right; she is also a superb teacher with an in-depth knowledge of the subject and an infectious level of motivation and passion.

Forest Row School of Ceramics offers fantastic facilities and plenty of studio space for students to work without feeling restricted; there is an outdoor kiln site, glaze mixing room, ample electric kiln capacity and all this is set within the beautiful and inspiring rural grounds of Emerson College.

Students on the full-time course never fail to make significant progress during an intense 3 months of study in which they explore the diversity of ceramics before identifying a more personal direction.

The work in the final exhibition rivals that of any university level course, which is testament to the amazing progress these students make in a relatively short amount of time. I always look forward to the teaching and workshops I deliver in this inspiring and exciting school.

"Katrina is a talented potter and a gifted teacher. I have been one of her students since 2010 and I have watched her teach and support hundreds of students. In 2015, Katrina helped me set up and move into my own studio space where I now pot and teach myself. She continues to encourage and support me for which I am so grateful."

"Being taught by Katrina, is a wonderful experience!

She has developed a massive knowledge, over many years, of teaching and throwing pots to a very high standard. (Which quite belies her age!) ;) Unlike many teachers, she is able to impart the art and skills of throwing a successful pot, very quickly, which she does with dedication, huge enthusiasm, mixed with a warm and incisive wit. A marvellous combination! I have, in past years, tried my hand at throwing, but with little success, which makes for an unhappy experience. With Katrina, all this has changed. She's given me the confidence, I lacked and with her unbounded entusiasm and direction, I really feel I have 'turned a corner' and look forward, excitedly, to every class. The Studio is well appointed, with plenty of wheels and tools for the student to use. She even makes us, Tea and proper ground Coffee, when she remembers!! In the past, I've given my pots away, to people I didn't like….now, I'm considering selling them! My thanks to you Katrina, for changing my throwing life."

"I have been studying pottery on and off (mostly off!) for the past ten years. Each time I start up again I feel like I'm starting from the beginning. I'm so glad I finally found Katrina's Pottery. Katrina has this uncanny knack of making me feel 100% encouraged and good about my progress in class while at the same time being very clear about what skills I need to develop. She is also so warm and friendly and skilled at teaching that I can't help wanting to come back and try again even when I feel discouraged. In fact,I enjoy myself so much at pottery class I wish I could come to pottery class every day of the week!"
